Austria — Datenschutzgesetz (DSG)
Austria's data-protection act, GDPR-adapted by the Datenschutz-Anpassungsgesetz 2018. Unusually, its Art. 1 § 1 is a Verfassungsbestimmung — a constitutional-rank fundamental right to data protection that binds private actors too.

Applicability to EdTech
- Digital-consent age is 14 (§ 4 Abs. 4) — Austria took the GDPR Art. 8 derogation down to 14, matching Italy and Bulgaria (Germany and Poland stay at 16, Czechia at 15).
- The constitutional Grundrecht (Art. 1 § 1): everyone has a constitutional claim to secrecy of personal data with direct third-party effect — Austrian schools and parents can invoke it directly, and it shapes how the DSB and courts read everything else.
- No fines against public bodies (§ 30 Abs. 5): Behörden and öffentliche Stellen (public schools included) cannot be fined — but private vendors can, and § 30 Abs. 1–2 spell out when managers' conduct is attributed to the company (§ 30).

Licence
The corpus reproduces selected provisions of the Datenschutzgesetz in the consolidated version of the Rechtsinformationssystem des Bundes (RIS).
Austrian copyright law places statutes and ordinances outside copyright. § 7 Abs. 1 Urheberrechtsgesetz (RIS — UrhG § 7, read 2026-10-01 through the RIS open-data API, document NOR12024408) provides: "Gesetze, Verordnungen, amtliche Erlässe, Bekanntmachungen und Entscheidungen sowie ausschließlich oder vorwiegend zum amtlichen Gebrauch hergestellte amtliche Werke der im § 2 Z 1 oder 3 bezeichneten Art genießen keinen urheberrechtlichen Schutz."
Conditions: none attach to the statute text, because no copyright subsists in it. The corpus still identifies its source: each fact document names its source in its opening citation line and in its Meta section, and Sources here links the official text (RIS). The corpus does not claim that the publisher endorses it, and only the officially promulgated text is authentic.
