Florida — Fla. Stat. §§1002.22 and 1002.222 (education records; collection limits)
Florida's student-records pair: parents'/students' rights in K-12 education records (§1002.22), and the collection limits (§1002.222) — including the ban on collecting biometric information of students, parents and siblings — expressly listing fingerprint/hand scans, retina or iris scans, voice prints and facial geometry scans.
Applicability to EdTech
The §1002.222(1)(a) biometric ban is the sharpest constraint in the corpus for headset hardware in Florida schools: districts may not collect eye characteristics ("a retina or iris scan" is an express example) — any eye-tracking feature must demonstrably not measure identifying physical characteristics in Florida deployments. (The TODO's HB 3 online-protections item is a separate consumer statute — add on demand.)
