Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC)
A collaborative of schools, districts, regional/state agencies, policy makers, trade organizations and marketplace providers (part of the Access 4 Learning Community) focused on practical student-data-privacy solutions — sdpc.a4l.org. Its two main artefacts for vendors:
- the National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA) — the standardised DPA US districts ask vendors to sign;
- the SDPC Registry — a public registry of signed DPAs by district and vendor.
Applicability to EdTech
When a US district asks for "a signed DPA" or "participation in the Student Data Privacy Consortium" (as pilot-district RFIs do), this is the body and instrument they mean. Signing the NDPA with one district in a state alliance typically allows other districts in that alliance to join the same agreement via the registry.
